Happy Veganniversary + Vegan Cookbook GIVEAWAY!

happy veganniversary

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!!! AND HAPPY VEGANNIVERSARY TO US! On this January 2, 2018, we celebrate 8 years being vegan!

We’re sure you’ve said or heard how much 2017 sucked…for so many reason. With all the bad there was, we had to say that there were some really good things to happen as well. For example, we got to attend Expo West and Expo East for another year. We signed a lease for V Marks the Shop‘s storefront. We had recipes published in a book (see below). So, it wasn’t THAT bad. We hope it wasn’t that bad for you either!

In addition, we saw A LOT of NEW in the world of vegan from the widening reach of veganism to brand new products hitting the shelves. More people across the globe are taking an interest in a more compassionate lifestyle for a variety of reasons from health to the environment. People are giving a damn, not just about what they eat, but where they shop, what they wear, how they engage with other beings, etc.

We’d like to think that two of the key factors have been technology and social media. While we’ll hold off on geeking out here, it’s hard not to see the truth. We’re seeing technology bring forth greater accessibility (but we got a long way to go) and social media connecting more folks. We’re learning, sharing, growing as a vegan community. With that, we have the ability to do the same with those who are interested.

The new year usually signifies changes, reboots, kickstarts, etc. For us, we’ve passed on resolutions but decided we do need to engage more in self care by treating our bodies better. If you’re reading this and you’re not vegan (yet), we hope we can help in some way by sharing recipes, photos, experiences and conversation.

To celebrate the new year and our 8th happy veganniversary, we’re proud to host a giveaway to win a copy of the Main Street Vegan Academy Cookbook by Victoria Moran and JL Fields to which we’ve contributed recipes like Carm’s PB&J Sammie Smoothie and Carlo’ Sicilian Orange Salad!

Enter below for your chance to win! We’ll announce the winner here on the blog on February 1, 2018! (U.S. residents only…sorry!)

  1. 1/1 marked my 3 year veganniversary. Having social media groups to act as a support system and peer review panel has been invaluable.

  2. I have been vegan for nearly 9yrs now. I went vegan for the animals (I was previously vegetarian, but I saw a video by Gary Yourofsky that made me realize how hypocritical being vegetarian really is). It’s a really great time to be vegan now! So many options and amazing recipes and products, it’s amazing and really encouraging.

  3. We have not quite gone vegan but really want to for all of the health benefits, it just makes sense to me!!

  4. I originally went vegan to promote animal welfare. However, after reading Robbins’ “Diet for A New America”, I am also vegan for health and environmental issues. There are so many reasons to go vegan that I find it frustrating that more people aren’t vegan, and usually have to walk away when people make inaccurate claims like meat being healthier or animals being treated well on factory farms. >_>

  5. I went vegan for health reasons at first- but it has totally shifted to ethics and environmental reasons. Been on and off vegan for over 10 years, but strict about it for 3 years.

  6. I went vegetarian for environmental reasons and then vegan after I learned the ethical aspects of it. Never going back.

  7. I’m a vegetarian, but I’ve been trying to make the transition to vegan. That’s my overall goal for the new year^_^
