HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!!! AND HAPPY VEGANNIVERSARY TO US! On this January 2, 2018, we celebrate 8 years being vegan!
We’re sure you’ve said or heard how much 2017 sucked…for so many reason. With all the bad there was, we had to say that there were some really good things to happen as well. For example, we got to attend Expo West and Expo East for another year. We signed a lease for V Marks the Shop‘s storefront. We had recipes published in a book (see below). So, it wasn’t THAT bad. We hope it wasn’t that bad for you either!
In addition, we saw A LOT of NEW in the world of vegan from the widening reach of veganism to brand new products hitting the shelves. More people across the globe are taking an interest in a more compassionate lifestyle for a variety of reasons from health to the environment. People are giving a damn, not just about what they eat, but where they shop, what they wear, how they engage with other beings, etc.
We’d like to think that two of the key factors have been technology and social media. While we’ll hold off on geeking out here, it’s hard not to see the truth. We’re seeing technology bring forth greater accessibility (but we got a long way to go) and social media connecting more folks. We’re learning, sharing, growing as a vegan community. With that, we have the ability to do the same with those who are interested.
The new year usually signifies changes, reboots, kickstarts, etc. For us, we’ve passed on resolutions but decided we do need to engage more in self care by treating our bodies better. If you’re reading this and you’re not vegan (yet), we hope we can help in some way by sharing recipes, photos, experiences and conversation.
